Boy claims knife attack by senior over snacks row in welfare hostel in Hyderabad - Times of India

HYDERABAD: Principal of a Telangana Social Welfare Residential (TSWR) Junior College has lodged a complaint with Gachibowli police stating that a first-year student suffered a cut on his neck due to alleged assault by a senior student.
The principal approached police on April 26 stating that there was a quarrel between the first year and second year students at the time of snacks distribution at the campus on April 25. “While the evening snack of ‘semiya’ was being distributed by a senior student, a small quantity fell on the hand of a 16-year-old first year student who blurted out ‘orey’ to the senior.
The seniors took objection to the word, but the caretaker pacified the students,” Gachibowli inspector G Suresh said.
Later at 10 pm, a 17-year old second year student chased and beat the first-year student and they were separated by the duty teachers. But at 1. 40am on April 26, the first-year student was found with a cut on his neck while he was sleeping and was taken to a nearby hospital.
“The victim suffered a three-inch cut requiring six stitches,” the inspector said. As the victim claimed that he saw the senior student leaving his hostel room after the alleged assault, police registered a case under section 324 of the IPC. However, during probe the school staff told police that the victim and the accused were in two different buildings and both gates were locked at the time of the incident.
Moreover, immediately after the victim was found assaulted, staff said that they had gone to the senior student’s room and had found him sleeping. Gachibowli police said that they are investigating.
