It's better to have a biscuit at teatime than bedtime - The Times

Reaching for the biscuit tin before bed is a guilty pleasure enjoyed by many, but a study has found that snacking is much worse for our health after 9pm than during the day.

Researchers at King’s College London examined data from 1,000 people taking part in the Zoe Predict study, who kept a food diary and wore blood sugar monitors.

On average, the participants ate two snacks a day. One in three were “late-evening snackers”, eating most of their snacks after 9pm, rather than in between meals.

These evening snackers experienced bigger spikes in their blood sugar than people who ate similar snacks earlier in the day, and also had higher concentrations of fat in their blood.

This higher level of blood glucose can increase
