American Airlines passenger claims crew ‘snatched’ 3-yr-old’s snack box - India Today

A passenger travelling on American Airlines recently shared her upsetting experience on a social media platform, where she goes by the username @dynamicallydara. She recounted how a flight attendant allegedly took her three-year-old nephew's snack box of unwrapped food without permission.

In her tweet, she wrote, "Today, while flying with @AmericanAir, I had my 3-year-old nephew's snack box of unwrapped food on the tray. A flight attendant walked by, took it without asking, and showed it to a friend near the front of the plane. She was gone for several minutes. I had to throw everything away. I'm furious! I will contact the airline's corporate office." Along with her tweet, she posted a picture of the snack box, containing various unwrapped snacks like crackers, cereal and peanut butter and jam sandwich.

According to Dara, she was occupied playing a game on her nephew's iPad when the incident occurred. The flight attendant reportedly took the snack box and mentioned that she wanted to show it to a friend at the front of the plane who had recently become a grandmother. Dara mentioned, "I initially thought she was reaching for the tray's trash, but she grabbed my nephew's snack box with all his food. She informed me about her friend and her intentions, and before I could fully process her words, she walked away with the snack box."

In a long X thread, she explained what had actually happened that day on flight and why she demanded the airline’s attention on this matter.

Dara expressed her concern about the food's exposure and her decision to discard it after the flight attendant returned with it. After reaching their destination, she confronted the flight attendant, explaining that while she understood the curiosity about the snack box, it was not acceptable to take someone's personal belongings without permission.

In response, the flight attendant said, "Oh, I had just washed my hands." Dara emphasized that this wasn't the main issue and that helping oneself to someone's belongings was not appropriate. Despite an apology, the flight attendant continued to justify her actions, which Dara felt negated the sincerity of the apology.

American Airlines acknowledged the situation and offered an apology, saying, "What a charming snack box! We apologize for the crew member taking it without asking you first."

However, Dara was far from please with the airline’s response.
