Snack Attack: Easy And Tasty Besan-Based Recipes For Monsoon Delight - Jagran English

This tasty delicacy is not only a treat for the palate, but it also has a calming effect on the soul. There are a variety of foods to choose from, including the crisp goodness of pakoras made with a variety of veggies, paneer, and even unusual pairings like cheese, as well as the delightful tanginess of chaats topped with tamarind chutney and spices.

Crunchy Besan Toast

The following items are required to make the crunchy besan toast: 1/4 cup chopped onion, 1/4 cup chopped tomato, 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper, 1 finely chopped green chili, 1/2 tsp. of ginger paste, 1/4 tsp. of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp. of red chili powder, 1 cup besan, 1/2 cup water Salt, as desired, Slices of bread, and at last, some butter for the toasting.

All you have to do now to make the crunchy besan toast is combine the besan and water to create a smooth batter in a bigger bowl. You should be able to pour the batter, so adjust the water as necessary. Then combine the batter with the chopped onions, tomatoes, capsicum, green chili, ginger paste, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt.

A nonstick pan should next be heated to medium-high heat. One side of a slice of bread should have butter on it. Make sure the bread slice is coated evenly on both sides by dipping the buttered side into the besan batter. Than the besan-coated side of the bread slice should be facing down as it is placed on the pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the bottom is crispy and golden brown. Simply use a spatula to flip the bread slice over and cook the other side for another minute. Besan toast should be taken out of the pan and placed on a plate. Make additional besan toast using the remaining bread slices and batter, and then serve them hot with ketchup or another dip of your choice.

Besan Peda

The following ingredients are required for making besan peda: 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 cup ghee, 1 cup besan, and 1/4 cup milk; a dash of nutmeg powder; a dash of cardamom powder; and, for decoration, some sliced almonds or pistachios.

Simply heat a heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat and add at least 4–5 spoons of ghee to create the crunchy besan peda. Then, after the ghee has melted, add the besan and roast it for at least 15 minutes over low heat. The besan ought to smell good and turn golden brown. After that add in some milk in the pan. Until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the pan's sides, stir frequently. It ought to take 8 to 10 minutes. Then add nutmeg, cardamom, and powdered sugar to the pan.

Stir thoroughly, then heat it for an additional two to three minutes to further thicken the sauce. Simply turn off the heat after that and let the mixture cool. After the mixture has cool down, thoroughly work it with your hands until it resembles smooth dough. Then divide the mixture into equal-sized balls, giving each one a little flattened edge to create peda forms. The only thing left to do is top the besan peda with some sliced pistachios and almonds, and then wait for it to cool completely. It is then ready to eat.
